Key Factors Affecting Oil Yield
- Recycled Plastic Waste
Different plastics provide different oil yields when processed by a waste plastic pyrolysis machine:
Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE), and Polystyrene (PS): These common packaging plastics can achieve oil yields of 60%–80%.
Mixed or contaminated plastics: Yields are typically lower, about 40%–50%.
(Note: PVC and PET are not suitable for pyrolysis due to chlorine and oxygen content.)
On average, producing one ton of fuel oil requires 1.3–2.5 tons of waste plastic. Cleaner, purer feedstock results in higher efficiency and better oil quality.
- Adopted Pyrolysis Machine
The performance of the convert plastic to fuel oil pyrolysis plant also determines extraction rates. Two stages are especially important:
Pyrolysis Process: Temperature control is critical. Too low, and plastics cannot fully decompose; too high, and more syngas is generated instead of oil. An ideal pyrolysis temperature maximizes oil gas output.
Condensation System: After pyrolysis, hot oil gas must be cooled into liquid fuel. Efficient condensation ensures maximum oil recovery and stable product quality. Poor cooling leads to reduced yield, lower oil quality, higher safety risks, and increased energy use.
To produce one ton of fuel oil, it usually takes 1.3–2.5 tons of waste plastic, depending on feedstock quality and machine efficiency. If the recycled plastic has high purity and oil content, and the pyrolysis plant is equipped with precise control systems and an advanced cooling unit, the conversion rate can be optimized—sometimes requiring less plastic waste for the same fuel output.
