(picture:Can waste plastics be converted into fuel oil?)
According to statistics, the world produces about 400 million tons of waste plastics every year. Due to the lack of effective plastic recycling methods, most of these waste plastics are landfilled and incinerated, which not only pollutes the environment, but also causes waste of resources. Plastic production relies on non-renewable fossil fuels such as crude oil and natural gas. As a non-renewable energy source, global fossil energy reserves are gradually decreasing, which poses a severe challenge to energy supply. So, is there a way to convert waste plastics into fuel?
The answer is yes. There are currently two ways to convert waste plastics into fuel: direct incineration and pyrolysis technology. Incineration will inevitably cause serious environmental pollution, and the increasingly advanced pyrolysis technology has become the best choice. Here I recommend the pyrolysis plant of Huayin Group, which was established in 1993 and has exported equipment to more than 100 countries. Huayin Company has a professional technical team and rich experience in manufacturing pyrolysis equipment.
Why can plastics be pyrolyzed into fuel?
The main components of plastics are high molecular polymers (such as PE, PP, PS, excluding PVC and PET), which are composed of long-chain hydrocarbons. In a high-temperature, oxygen-free environment, the plastic molecular chain will break and decompose into small molecular hydrocarbons. This process is called pyrolysis. Waste plastics can be pyrolyzed to obtain pyrolysis fuel oil, carbon black, syngas and other products.
Application of plastic pyrolysis fuel oil
Although plastic pyrolysis oil cannot directly replace gasoline/diesel, it can be widely used in the following fields after proper treatment:
- Industrial fuel
Boiler/kiln fuel: direct combustion for heating, replacing traditional heavy oil or coal, reducing industrial energy consumption costs.
Power generation fuel: used for diesel generators or gas turbines for power generation.
- Refining and processing
Distillation and purification: light oil (similar to diesel), heavy oil (industrial fuel) and asphalt components are separated by distillation.
Hydrogenation treatment: remove impurities such as sulfur and oxygen, improve oil stability, and produce fuel that meets standards.
- Chemical raw materials
Olefins by cracking: extract basic chemical raw materials such as ethylene and propylene for plastic reproduction.
Solvent oil: some components can be processed into industrial solvents or cleaning agents.
- Environmental protection and circular economy
Replace fossil energy: reduce dependence on crude oil and reduce carbon emissions.
Plastic waste reduction: 1 ton of waste plastic can produce about 600-800 liters of pyrolysis oil, greatly reducing landfill and pollution.
Pyrolysis technology converts waste plastic into fuel oil, which not only alleviates the pollution problem but also creates economic value. Plastic pyrolysis oil has broad application prospects in industrial fuels, chemical raw materials and other fields.
